Thomas Creswick R.ABorn 1811 Died 1869 A landscape painter of Wales and the North of England, usually with streams or water. He was London based and from 1828 he exhibited 266 works at the Royal Academy, the British Institute and elswhere. He was an associate of the Royal Academy in 1842 and a Royal Academician in 1851. Art critic Reynolds noted that he liked to maintain an overall brown tone to his works and that his paintings were distinctive for their "integrity and power of construction". His works were very successful and a memorial exhibition was held after his death.
